  • USAG Testing for Judging Certification
    • Various Ratings are available and each have specific eligibility requirements.
    • See Judging Women’s Artistic Gymnastics on the USA Gymnastics website for complete explanation of requirements along with exceptions.
    • Level 4/5 – Entry Level – Compulsory, written test only
    • Level 7/8 – Entry Level – Optional, written and practical (film) tests
    • Level 9 – Must have a Level 7/8 rating for 1 year – Optional, written and practical (film) tests
    • Level 10 – Must have a Level 9 rating for 1 year – Optional, written and practical (film) tests
    • Optional judges are not required to have a Level 4/5 rating but not having both could impact assignments.
    • You may take each part of the exam up to four times in a certification year.
    • The certification year is August 1 to July 30.
    • The written test has 50 multiple choice questions and is taken online.
    • The practical (film) test has one demo routine and 6 routines to be judged per event. The routine contributing the fewest points to your score is dropped and the other 5 routines on each event  are used to determine your practical (film) score. These tests are given in-person.
